Tuesday was a busy day in the 2. Bundesliga with six teams bringing in new players as the countdown to the new season continues.
SC Paderborn 07 struck the first blow of the day, announcing the free transfer of centre-back Marcel Correia, who was with SSV Jahn Regensburg until the end of last season. He is the third player with a Regensburg past to join Paderborn this summer, following Maximilain Thalhammer and Chima Okoroji.
Regensburg would have liked to have kept the 31-year-old, but they moved quickly to sign a replacement, with Scott Kennedy joining from Austria Klagenfurt. The Canadian-born defender won’t be able to train with his new teammates straight away due to the late end to the Austrian season.
Fortuna Düsseldorf have also strengthened in defence, bringing in Kevin Danso on loan from FC Augsburg, two days after losing Kaan Ayhan to Italian side US Sassuolo. He had spent last season in the Premier League with Southampton.

Karlsruher SC meanwhile have taken Philip Heise on loan from Norwich City, after the former Dynamo Dresden left-back spent the second half of last season with Nürnberg. He will primarily challenge Dirk Carlson for a place in the team.
SV Sandhausen also announced the signing of Anas Ouahim, with the attacking midfielder available after not signing a new contract with VfL Osnabrück. He had scored three goals in 25 games for them last season.
Eintracht Braunschweig have added yet another player to their squad, with young midfielder Iba May, who had been linked with rivals Hannover, joining on a permanent deal from VfL Wolfsburg.
Stepping out of the league is Johannes Wurtz, who has joined relegated SV Wehen Wiesbaden having been surplus to requirements at SV Darmstadt 98. Dominik Schmidt, who had been released by Holstein Kiel, has also dropped to the 3. Liga and has signed with MSV Duisburg.
