Würzburger Kickers announced earlier in the week that Dominik Meisel will remain with the club next season, whilst youngster Umut Ünlü has been handed a professional contract.
Meisel, who joined the club from SpVgg Bayern Hof in 2018, made his debut for in the Bavarian state cup last season and also made three appearances in the 3. Liga having been a regular part of the squad.
He was not involved after the restart due to a shoulder injury, however the 21-year-old says that he is “100 percent fit again” and he wants “to go full throttle in pre-season.”
Ünlü, who is just 17, has already impressed for the under-19 team and says it is “a dream come true” to be part of the professional squad going forward.
“Umut absolutely deserves this opportunity,” says head coach Michael Schiele of the full-back. “He has a good attitude paired with aggressive duel behaviour and clean passing.”
“Our youth players see that it is worth working hard on yourself every day,” says CEO Daniel Sauer on the significance of the pair’s progress. “The hard work is rewarded, the door to the top is always open for our young players,” he continued.
