VfL Bochum have received a huge boost ahead of next season with the news that Danilo Soares has signed a new four-year contract.
The left-back had been widely expected to leave the club this summer after his previous deal expired, with the Bundesliga thought to be the likely destination.
However after rumours emerged on social media last night that he was set to sign an extension, the club confirmed the news on Saturday afternoon.
The video posted (above) implied that it was a goodbye from the 28-year-old, until at the end, he confirms he has signed a new deal until 2024.
“The last three years here in Bochum were a very wonderful time. I had many wonderful moments here… I found many friends here… that’s why I have extended my contract until 2024.”Danilo Soares.
Soares, who joined form Hoffenheim in 2017 having previously played for Ingolstadt, has been an indispensable member of their defence in the last three years.
He was one of several players who was given a formal farewell ahead of the final game of the season, although a contract had been on the table, which in contrary to expectations over recent months he has now signed.
