Karlsruhe confirm Gondorf deal as four depart

Karlsruher SC have confirmed that Jerôme Gondorf will stay at the club following the club securing 2. Bundesliga survival.

The 32-year-old became an integral part of their midfield after joining from SC Freiburg in the winter, playing 15 of the 16 games after his arrival.

As per the terms of the deal, his move has now been made permanent after the club secured it’s survival on the final day. His contract will run until 2022.

Four players though have been confirmed to depart on Friday. Änis Ben-Hatira, only signed in January, Burak Camoglu and Martin Röser all leave following the end of their contracts, whilst Lukas Grozurek returns to Sturm Graz after the club opted out of the option to sign him on a permanent basis.

Indications are talks are continuing with Manuel Stiefler, Daniel Gordon and Damian Roßbach.

Stiefler appears to be the safest bet to stay, with sporting director Oliver Kreuzer indicating that the 35-year-old Gordon would only play more of a back-up role whilst they were considering whether to pursue other options instead of Roßbach.

There is little doubt that caretaker coach Christian Eichner will also soon sign a new deal after keeping the side up. A three-year deal for him and assistant Zlatan Bajramovic is expected.
