The 25-year-old has signed for a one-year contract with the Kleeblatt, with the club having the option of a further year.
The American, who started out with Bayern Munich as a forward, has been transformed into a midfielder by current Fürth boss Stefan Leitl, and he has made 20 appearances for the team this season.
“Julian plays an important role in our planning and he should take on even more responsibility in our team in the coming season,” sporting director Rachid Azzouzi explained in an official statement, with Leitl also echoing those thoughts.
Green himself says he has had a fun time with the club and is looking forward to contributing furhter to the club’s recent progress:
“We have improved every year now and I want to do my part to ensure that we continue to pursue this development.”Julian Green
Green had also previously played for Hamburger SV and VfB Stuttgart before finding a home in Fürth since 2017. He last played for the USA Men’s National Team in 2018 and will no doubt be hoping further success with Fürth will lead to a recall.
Tying down the player is another key step in planning for next season, with Daniel Keita-Ruel now the only senior player who’s future remains uncertain with his contract expiring at the end of the month.
